LISA'S REVIEW: Lady Alexandra's Lover (Helen Hardt)

Book: Lady Alexandra’s Lover
Author: Helen Hardt
Genre: Historical Erotic Romance

Synopsis

Lady Alexandra MacIntyre has made up her mind. Having grown up in near poverty, she's marrying for money—a lot of money—and she’ll do anything to achieve her goal...even get herself caught in a compromising situation by her overprotective and smugly conventional—although achingly handsome—new stepbrother, Lord Evan Xavier.

Evan, the second son of the Earl of Brighton, considers Alexandra a genuine pain in his arse. She's beautiful, yes, but also headstrong and lacking in social graces and respect for authority. Unfortunately, while his father and her mother are away on their wedding trip, she is his responsibility. When she announces her plan to travel to London, he has no choice but to go along as her protector.

When the two are stranded after a carriage accident, circumstances spiral out of control, and the heat between them can’t be denied. Rescue is on its way, but Alexandra still has her own agenda…

Review:
I really enjoyed this book. I almost gave it 4 stars. The erotic tales in between chapters was great but, they distracted me from the stories. As I got further into the story, I did better with them. I would often skip them a bit and then go back and read it. I wanted them in the story and it did not take me long to understand why they were there. It just kept me from my time with Evan and Ally. I did really enjoy this. I love to read a book that keeps me on my toes. I feel like this was done even better with the in betweens, despite their distraction.
That being said, I really loved the story! I was so caught up I read this in one setting. I freaking loved the characters and I am super excited for the next book. I wanted to smack Ally and then Evan towards the end. I mean are you both dumb and blind???? I think all will love this tale of erotic historical romance!
