Author Interview: Amanda Lance

We would like to welcome Amanda Lance to the Holiday Event. We are excited to share her interview with you and let you get to know her a little better! Enjoy!

Holiday Interview

1. What is your favorite Holiday?
I’m always torn between Christmas and Halloween. Either way, I can watch The Nightmare Before Christmas justifiably.   ;)

2. Of all the holiday food, what is your favorite?
Um, all of them? But I can’t get enough of green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, cornbread, and pumpkin roll. Like I said: all of them. haha

3. What is your favorite fall read?
I like reading a lot of horror during the fall. It gets me in the right mind set for Halloween and holiday family get-togethers. Classics from Jack Ketchum, Hubert Selby, Jr and a decent bottle of wine help me from shooting off at my family and the trick or’ treators.

4. What is your favorite winter read?
Wuthering Heights

5. Do you like Christmas music?
Yes and no.

6. How early do you start to decorate for the holidays?
Black Friday. It forces me to get out of bed.

7. Sexiest thing to wear this time of year...woman? man?
HAHA! I think it is ridiculously hot to see a guy in a peacoat and beanie.

8. What is your favorite holiday song?
The 12 Pains of Christmas

9. Have you been or are you ever inspired to write by the holidays?
Haha. In a way—the chaos/drama that happens at holiday parties/dinners always ends up getting recycled in my brain somehow.

10. What is your best holiday memory?
The Christmas I spent ALL day disappointed because I thought I didn’t get the bicycle I Santa for. But when I went to take the garbage in the garage, it was sitting there with a big red bow.

Author Interview: Briana Pacheco

Welcome Briana Pacheco! She is here for her holiday interview to let us know a little bit more about her and her books! I hope you all enjoy!

1. What is your favorite Holiday?

A: Christmas! I wish I didn't have to pick just one but I love snow, hot chocolate, fuzzy socks, staying in reading and the Christmas decorations so that's kind of a no-brainer, right? :)

2. Of all the holiday food, what is your favorite?

A: Pumpkin Pie. 100%. I'd be fine eating that during the holidays instead of real food like turkey/chicken/ham.

3. What is your favorite fall read?

A: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I read that a few years ago and it has stuck with me since.

4. What is your favorite winter read?

A; The Hunger Games trilogy! Need I say more?!?!

5. Do you like Christmas music?

A: I like it only in December!! If I hear it in November or January, I have to put headphones on and listen to my own playlists. I don't know why that happens but I've been that way since I was a kid.

6. How early do you start to decorate for the holidays?

A: Once Halloween is over, I start putting things up for Thanksgiving. The day after the chicken (I'm not a turkey person) is gone, the Christmas tree goes up!

7. Sexiest thing to wear this time of year...woman? man?

A: This answer may vary for different temperatures outside. ;)

8. What is your favorite holiday song?

A: Silent Night. The melody has always been calming to me.

9. Have you been or are you ever inspired to write by the holidays?

A: I have been! While writing The Enough Trilogy, I was 13, sitting at home, staring out at the snow on Christmas morning!! Ideas popped into my head seconds later so I wrote them down. Staring at the angel on the tree, gave me inspiration to make the trilogy have a paranormal feel also. So I thank Christmas for making me a writer!

10. What is your best holiday memory?

A: Easy! Refer to the previous question. My family thought I was having a mental breakdown that day because I wouldn't move from my spot, writing like a manic, shaking my head constantly at the voices waiting to be heard. It was a scary moment...for them.

About the author:
Briana Pacheco hates referring to herself in third person so let’s start off with I’m the author of the Enough Trilogy, Don’t Let Me Fall, and many more books to come in the future. I’m from Boston and a wannabe explorer so one day I’ll travel the world. So far, that’s only happening when I write but I’m not giving up just yet. I love coffee, music and books, and I have an obsession with tattoos and accents. Sadly, I have neither so I make my characters have them instead. I’m an avid reader and if I’m not writing, you’ll find me with a book (or Kindle) in my hands. I love hearing from readers about anything so please don’t be shy and stalk me. I love it!

9. Have you been or are you ever inspired to write by the holidays?
Not yet. I have too many stories to finish. Maybe next year.

My husband coming home after being deployed. The entire family (kids, parents, etc) were there for the dinner. I loved every minute even knowing he was leaving again in five days.

About A.C. Bextor
I love to read! I will read anything, literally. It may be a magazine, book, advertisement or even a cereal box. Specific authors that I follow have moved me to start writing. Before long that inspiration had produced a final product that I wasn’t even sure what I was going to do with. Obviously I hit publish and here I am.

Blessed with a great family that includes my husband, four kids, two dogs, and one hedgehog, I’ve lived in the Midwest all of my life. We currently live in a small town outside of Omaha, NE. My day job affords the ability to work from home and I’ve worked for the same lending company for nearly 19 years.

When I’m not reading, I try to be outside as much as possible even if it is just sitting on my deck with my reading device. I enjoy fishing, swimming, hockey games, and watching football with the family.

Author Interview: SM Lynn

We welcome SM Lynn to our holiday fun. We are excited to share her interview and let you get to know her a little bit better!

Holiday Interview

Twins- What is your favorite Holiday?
SM-  4th of July

Twins- Of all the holiday food, what is your favorite?
SM-  Hmmm...  I really really love food in general so picking just one thing is very difficult.  I guess I would have to be a bit boring and say turkey (Thanksgiving and Christmas).  We really never roast turkey at any other time during the year (too time consuming) so it is something I look forward to every year.

Twins- What is your favorite fall read?
SM-  So far this fall my favorite read has been Becoming Calder.  As the days grow shorter I like the sappy/ugly cry reads.

Twins- What is your favorite winter read?
SM-  Anything super hot and steamy.  It helps through cold winter nights :)

Twins- Do you like Christmas music?
SM- Yes, in doses.  I can't listen to it for days on end but love it at parties, when I'm shopping etc.

Twins- How early do you start to decorate for the holidays?
SM-  I try to change my decorations right after Thanksgiving.  It doesn't always happen that way and sometimes it's mid-December before I actually get around to it.

Twins- Sexiest thing to wear this time of year...woman? man?
SM-  I love the holiday outfits especially New Years.  They are not always the most weather appropriate for women but there is nothing sexier to me than a well dressed man (i.e. suit or tux) and a woman in a sexy dress.

Twins- What is your favorite holiday song?  The Christmas Song - traditional and soulful

9. Have you been or are you ever inspired to write by the holidays?
SM-  I haven't written a book centered around a holiday so I guess I would have to say no.  But I do still write during the holidays and some prominent moments in my books happen around the holidays.

Twins- What is you best holiday memory?
SM-  Would have to be the first Christmas when both my children were able to (kind of) understand the holiday.  Seeing their faces when the woke up Christmas morning, experiencing their first midnight church service, it was all so priceless.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Their joy and enthusiasm are contagious.

About the Author
S.M. Lynn is the author of Out of the Ashes. The sequel, Into the Flames, released September 15, 2014. The third novel in the series is scheduled to be published early 2015. She also has a new series, The 5 Horsemen, in the works. These are rock star romances, ladies and gents, and each will be a stand-alone with an HEA. She loves to write and read romance of all varieties. She lives in Nebraska with her husband and two (soon to be 3) children.

Author Interview: LB Dunbar

Welcome LB Dunbar to the Holiday Event. We are so excited to learn a little bit more about you and get to know your books. Thank You so much for doing this interview with us. I hope you all enjoy!

Holiday Interview

  1. Twins- What is your favorite Holiday?

LB- I’d like to say Christmas, but I’m a bit burnt out on the commercialization of it. I like the idea of it – believing in Santa, and the promise of Light coming, but I don’t care for all the pressure to purchase presents. Part of that is because I’m a terrible gift giver and I find it stressful.

  1. Twins- Of all the holiday food, what is your favorite?
LB- I’m a sweets girl, so I love pumpkin pie, number one, and Christmas cookies, number two. I’m not too picky about cookies, just any kind that are normally only made at Christmas time.

  1. Twins- What is your favorite fall read?
LB- Taste Test?! Okay, I won’t cheat. I love to re-read Sarah MacLean who writes historical romance because she has a new one every November. I usually re-read them in preparation for her newest.

  1. Twins- What is your favorite winter read?
LB- I’m a hypernater – that is, winter is my time to snuggle up and re-read. I plan to re-read the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott. Beautiful Bastard series by Christina Lauren made my list over and over last year as did the On Dublin Street series by Samantha Young.

Twins- Do you like Christmas music?
LB- Love Christmas music, but I love the less traditional songs made by modern artists, like Sara Bareilles’ “Winter Song,” or Tori Amos’ “Winter.” I love ones that are just about snow and winter, but I do love traditional songs as well.

Twins- How early do you start to decorate for the holidays?
LB- I have decorations for Halloween which transfer into Thanksgiving, then it all goes away and I decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. I’m one of those people who has it all down and put away by January 1, though. I like to start the new year clean and fresh.

Twins- Sexiest thing to wear this time of year...woman? man?
LB- Jeans…sweaters…sounds boring. I’m thinking low slung jeans on a guy with a tight sweater and a leather jacket. For woman, high boots, short skirt and a snug sweater.

Twins- What is your favorite holiday song?

LB- “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” – It always makes me cry.
Twins- Have you been or are you ever inspired to write by the holidays?
LB- Last year, I stopped writing around the holidays. I just had a writer’s block with a story and put it off for a while. This year I’m hoping that doesn’t happen. My current WIP2 has a good portion surrounding the holidays, but it won’t come out until next Spring.

Twins- What is your best holiday memory?
LB- Each year we host Thanksgiving at my home as my husband’s birthday is at that time. I guess my best memory is that my oldest use to make cards for everyone telling them why she was thankful for them. She also used to mix up the word and say “gives-stanking”, so I remember that fondly.

About the Author

L.B. Dunbar loves to read to the point it might be classified as an addiction.  The past few years especially she has relished the many fabulous YA authors, the new genre of New Adult, traditional romances, and historical romances.  A romantic at heart, she’s been accused of having an overactive imagination, as if that was a bad thing.  When not reading, she’s usually driving one of her four growing children somewhere.  She grew up in Michigan, but has lived in Chicago for longer, calling it home with her husband and children.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I’d like to say I was always a writer.  I’d also like to say that I wrote every day of my life since a child.  That I took the teaching advice I give my former students because writing every day improves your writing.  I’d like to say I have my ten-thousand hours that makes me a proficient writer.  But I can’t say any of those things.  I did dream of writing the “Great American Novel” until one day a friend said:  Why does it have to be great?  Why can’t it just be good and tell a story?

As a teenager, I wrote your typical love-angst poetry that did occasionally win me an award and honor me with addressing my senior high school class at our Baccalaureate Mass. I didn’t keep a journal because I was too afraid my mom would find it in the mattress where I kept my copy of Judy Blume’s Forever that I wasn’t allowed to read as a twelve year old.

I can say that books have been my life. I’m a reader. I loved to read the day I discovered “The Three Bears” as a first grader, and ever since then, the written word has been my friend.  Books were an escape for me. An adventure to the unknown. A love affair I’d never know. I could be lost for hours in a book.

So why writing now?  I had a story to tell. It haunted me from the moment I decided if I just wrote it down it would go away. But it didn’t. Three years after writing the first draft, a sign (yes, I believe in them) told me to fix up that draft and work the process to have it published. That’s what I did. But one story let to another, and another, and another. Then a new idea came into my head and a new storyline was created.

I was accused (that’s the correct word) of having an overactive imagination as a child, as if that was a bad thing. I’ve also been accused of having the personality of a Jack Russell terrier, full of energy, unable to relax, and always one step ahead. What can I say other than I have stories to tell and I think you’ll like them. If you don’t, that’s okay. We all have our book boyfriends. We all have our favorites. Whatever you do, though, take time for yourself and read a book.
